Default Broken air vent fix

If your air vent directional control break, here's a fix.

My up down flow control broke, if you can't move the louvers up and down this is how I fixed it.

Remove the air vent from truck, two screws

There's 8 tabs you need to unlock by lifting it up (use small flat blade of some sort).

Remove the one louver piece that has the control tab. Lift carefully at the two ends.

This picture show what is broken, a little plastic pin

Use a small metal rod (a finishing nail or similar will work great).
Using a small needle nose plier to hold the metal rod I heated it up a little, than push the metal rod into the louver piece. See the length that it should be about. Also optional you can use a little epoxy or super glue to make it tight.

Put everything back in reverse order.

I think that's how warranty is supposed to work, once you're out of warranty stuffs break.

Nice post BBF. Does the air vent on the left side of the steering wheel turn left and right or is it only up and down? I messed with a little but didn't want to break it.

It goes side to side also but that is control by the turning knob at the bottom. up and down is independent of side to side.

I would think so, just use bigger metal rod.

Need to do this. My passenger side one broke a long time ago and I never investigated how to get there. Thanks BBF.
