Mark Martin is going to take the win!!! I don't think he'll lead many laps but he'll lead the most important one!!!

I like your first couple of choices. I'm not sure if it will happen but, I would like to see Martin take at least one championship in his career, hes a good driver, a good sport, a nice person, and he deserves it....

I would have to agree, the guy is just not that good....period...at this point I am not sure if Kerry or Dale Jr is the better of the two Earnhardt boys..... he's got the best equipment known to man, the best owner on the planet and still can't win while all 3 of his teammates are competitive week in and week out.....if he doesn't improve drastically this year I think he is out at HMS..... I know he makes alot of sense marketing wise but he just doesn't have the talent.....let the flaming begin!

Todd....one of these days you and I will find something to agree on....I just know it....LOL!!! Much respect to Tony Stewart though, even if i wanted to say anything bad about the guy I couldn't....he is one of the best drivers to ever strap in to a race car! I'll wait to do all my talking about JG AFTER the 500.

Yeah, JR seems content with his celebrity status & making excuses on the post race interviews.. Just look at JR's face when he is interviewed, he knows he is in trouble !

Racing isn't a sport?
What makes something a "sport?" |

If you do it for 4 hours at 200 MPH and it's 130* inside your vehicle then by all means......

So colliding into each other for ten seconds then taking a twenty second break to discuss that play and the next play is a sport because you're holding a leather football?
Standing around for twenty minutes at a time while one guy after another tries to hit a little leather ball with a wooden bat is a sport? Is golf a sport? My favorite sports are non-stop full action all the time games such as hockey, rugby, racing... However, I understand that just because I don't like or understand a certain sport doesn't mean it's less of a sport. I have played basically every sport you can think of and some of them bore me and others really interest me. Doesn't mean that any of them are more or less of a sport. If football is so tough then why is it that most Football players freak out when they get strapped into a stock car and taken around Daytona? Go tell Joe Gibbs (professional football coach) that his NASCAR race teams don't compete in real sports, or how about Troy Aikman, tell him that his race team was simply competing in a show not a sport... Traveling at over 200 MPH with 42 other drivers within inches of you literally bumping and pushing each other down the straightaway and through the turns for three or four hours is one of the toughest things you can imagine...Imagine watching a football player run down a field avoiding blockers and tacklers...That takes about 10 seconds or so? (I honestly don't know how long it takes...) Now imagine a stock car traveling down that same 100 yards with another car flipping in front of it with debris flying off or a car sliding in front of him or even just trying to handle the car as it's sideways down the straights...and it covers that same 100 yards in the blink of an eye... |

Perhaps someone should tell ESPN that they should focus on real sports instead of naming a NASCAR driver the "Athlete of the year."
http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar...ory?id=4761210 Oh and something you might find interesting...A lot of the jackmen and tire changers in NASCAR...Former college football players who actually have to train harder in order to "simply change some tires and dump in some fuel..." |
