Default 430 mile trip and averaged 17mpg

Just did a 430 mile trip from the prairies to the mountains and back. I averaged 17 mpg over the course of the trip. 50 miles total @ 50mph, the rest was between 65 and 75mph with a few shots up towards 85mph. Coming back out to the prairies I was bucking a pretty strong front/side wind.

The only mods to my truck are a Banks Ram Air intake, and an Access tonneau cover and there is a little under 19,000 miles on the odo.

Overall I am a little surprised by the mileage it is better then I thought it would be for the trip and definately better then when it was new!

Thats not too bad at all for our trucks. The best i've ever gotten is 16.5 on a 260 mile trip.

I can knock down 21mpg if I use the cruise control at 60mph. I'm impressed so far, but then again my 2010 is bone stock without the tow package. This gearing is more fuel economy friendly.

That's not bad at all!! Once, and only once, lol, I got 20.3. Titan still had the stock 17 steelies on it. Since I've added the 20's, lost about 1.5mpg, added the Armada Air dam and the 2* advance and got almost all of it back.....on a good day I can get 18.5-19, and I'm content with that considering my buddy's ram hemi doesn't get over 13 EVER, and I can still out run him!! I've been wanting to get a soft tonneau (sp?) for mine as I believe in their ability for a slight increase, plus I like the looks. Fuel mileage is something I don't complain about because I absolutely love the power, but I still try to do as well as I can in respecting the money I work hard for, and not just throwing it away.

Well at least it gets what the sticker says its suppose to get. For some reason I used to get 18 on the highway, but now its more like 16, I really think the bug shield costs me at least 1 MPG at speed.

In June of '08, I did a 470 mile round trip to move my daughter to college. Bed was full of light weight stuff on the way there, as was my back seat, and empty on the way back. My intention was to do this trip without stopping for fuel. Kept my speed between 65 and 70 most of the time, dropping to 60 mph for the last 100 miles or so because my gas gauge read empty, but my scan gauge said I had gas. When I filled up after getting home (same pump, same truck angle), truck took 25.25 gallons giving me an mpg of 18.61. This does not take into account my -4% odometer error (varified with a GPS). If you figure that in than mpg would be 19.35. Not bad for BT gears, and never again duplicated.

i will say that these trucks are are rather surprising in how good mpg they can get. I take a 600 mile trip one way at least twice a year and I am averaging 19mpg driving at 70-75mph. Grant it i have stock steelies and was not hauling anything other than me and a weeks worth of clothing. But I never expected it especially with my mods.

That sounds good to me. I have an 08, SE, KC, FFV, 2wd,BT stock (just a MF 16780 catback and Stillen CAI). If I stay on the highway and don't stop 55mph = 21 mpg, 60 mph = 20 mpg, 65mph=19 mpg and 70 mph=17.2 mpg so I rarely drive over 65mph. I have kept a log since the truck was new and do mostly rural 11 mile drives to work with about 4 - 5 stops. Over the first 18,000 miles it has averaged about 18 mpg doing this in the summer and 17 mpg doing it in the winter, and I rarely ever exceed 1800 rpm through the gears. The mpg is slightly better than my old 5.4 F150 2wd but i didnt' have to drive that one quite as easy to get 17 mpg. So I wish I could get a bit better, but reading all the posts I guess I can't complain. Towing a 4500 - 5000 lb boat about 300 miles at 60 - 65 mph = 11.5-12 mpg and that is not good but also similar to the old F150.

wow thats good..I think we have a thread on mileage here somewhere and I told my whole trip story.. anyway I was like 15.5 to 16.5 at 90mph plus for two hours straight with the SC mileage tune programmed. trip was from cali to vegas so a lot of uphill stuff. Cruise only allowed me to set it at 94mph I believe.

It's not as good as yours! At 70 mph I get a bit over 17 mpg (perhaps that is where the wind resistance and BT gears hurt?). If you got 16.5 at 90 mph you did excellent because I appeared to lose about 1 mpg per 5 mph so I can only guess that 90 mph would be around 14 mpg for me?

I just duplicated the trip I talked about in post #7. This time I got 18.9 mpg. Add in the 4% odometer error and it's 19.6 mpg.

Thats great I just got back from a 500 mile trip and averaged 15mpg even when I was off the highway and going around through town. Thats in my bone stock 08 4door 2wd with tow mode, The mpg's sucked but it was great having the power to get around the slow vehicles

Default gas mileage

I just traded my 05 kingcab with off-road package for a 2010 crewcab se with value package 4 wheel drive, my gas mileage on the 05 was about 14.5, the first tank on the 2010 was 16.5, today i took a 400 mile trip and the mileage was at 17.4 at 75 mph i got behind a big rig for about 5 miles and it went up to 18.6 but i backed off because i did not want to follow that close. these figures are from the dash info center. ps the new truck has the higher gears.

I have a brand new 2010, barely 1000 miles on it, and i just got 18.3 mpg and it was about 75% freeway aroun 70mph and the rest was around town. Its not too bad, just trying to keep my foot out of it lol. It is still totally stock, but i want to do a Volant intake, Magnaflow cat back, and superchips tuner..... any other recommendations besides lift and wheels
