I'm done. Michigan upset v. App St. wasn't bad enough, nope, losing to a da-ii team wasn't that bad. Watching it on the front page of Sportscenter/ESPN.com for days wasn't bad enough either. Having that game hailed as the greatest upset in the college football history was fine too.
Now tonight, FSU looked like complete [enter your negative term here]. At least the #2 QB recruit in the nation just committed to FSU, we're going to need a QB very soon.
Atone is the only reason we stayed in the game. First half, our O line was completely unable to block anyone. You know something's wrong when the center looks like he's trying to block someone with his back... *sigh*
I've been drunk all weekend, ended up going to bed after party, club, another party, and ended up home and ready for bed at 8:30 AM after watching the sun rise. I've been numb all weekend just like I am now but it just won't save me.
How does your only 2 teams in life both lose opening weekend to an underdog team especially when very promising seasons were on the line. :( I might as well just go slit my wrists like Owen Wilson did. I'm just kidding of course. Good night everyone, I have class bright and early.

WOW that was a good game! Tommy has Bobby's number it seems. It was quite eviedent that FSU had 5 new coaches this year, especially in the first half. Only time will tell if they were just confused or they just stink.
Hang in the Tallahassee, there is hope for both your teams yet. It's early! Since Florida doesn't play anyone till mid season, it will be a while before they catch their first of several losses!

"It's not that big a statement," Watkins said of the win. "We beat Florida State for a few years in a row, whatever it is, and we haven't won a championship yet. So beating Florida State doesn't mean anything."

I like the Bulls as well. A lot of South Lake county players go there! My wife went to University of Tampa ( I lived there briefly) so I pull for the teams over there. More so than UCF!
Hey the Cards have an uphill battle with a new coaching staff. I will tell you this, I stayed in the dorm with some of the football players and they were nothing but gentlemen! They looked like thugs, but you never heard anything except yes sir out of them. I even busted their chops for beating Miami last year, while I was on campus, and they were joking right back. Those guys have class and appreciate the accolades that they have earned.

I wish there were more athletes like that.
Sorry Snipe, but that is one of the reasons I have never liked Miami, and have always pulled for FSU (LOL...don't spew Todd) over Miami. The Thug and gangsta thing (especially in the 80's and 90's) has just always rubbed me the wrong way. Bobby Bowden has always been gracious and dare I say "classy" in both victory and defeat and expected the same of his players. Wish I could say the same thing for Spurrier. I sure loved what he did for UF but would have liked it even more (and caught alot less flack from my Hator friends) if Steve was more like Bobby.
And yeah, I know the Gators are no angels on the field and especially in the stands and sports bars! But Miami has personified the "Thug" image as a Team and not just as a couple of adrenaline charged, bad boy jocks.
Kinda like the way the Gators acted after winning their 2nd championship in B-ball. Have fun, get crazy, let your emotions go, and even give your detractors a little; "I told you so," ragging. But the gangsta-thug stuff they projected until Donovan reigned them back in just bothered me as a Gator alumni and fan.
To hear about athletes that are disclplined, courteous, and respectful is refreshing. Thanks for sharing that!
And for all of you that want to say; "lighten up there swamp!" :P
JK!...just trying to see what it felt to be a Cane for a moment......and yuck! I didn't like it! ;)

Okay boys! I read the entire post and I have to say that I am not impressed. If that's the best you guys can throw at me and FSU, then you had better step up to the plate. I have not been dodging this , but have been travelling for work the past couple of days. Finally got to login and see what is going on and I find this.
Couple of things I learned on Monday night:
1. Death Valley is very hot and smelly at 9pm when you are surrounded by that many rednecks.
2. FSU did not try anything new in the 1st half. NOTHING. It was the 2006 gameplan revisited. Spot Clemson 24 points.
3. Fundamentals were not there. Start that many freshmen on offense and that will happen.
4. Rick Trickett is the real deal. Like FSU or not, he is going to get those boys to a new level. Might not be this year. I heard him from where I was sitting and it wasn't pretty.
5. Clemson is better than people are giving credit. I can't stand them, but they do have 2 good running backs. FSU didn't close the running lanes in the 1st half.
6. 2nd half was FSU football. We just spotted Clemson too many points. They didn't do a thing after we made adjustments.
7. Death Valley is very hot and smelly at 11:30pm when you are surrounded by that many rednecks who think they are about to lose a game. LOL LOL
8. Walking to my truck at 11:45pm in Clemson wearing my FSU jersey and hat was interesting. I have to say that even the Gators have more class than the people in Clemson.
9. Getting 25 text messages, 9 phonecalls, and 18 emails between midnight and 6am Mon-Tues was not the best time to call me. Some people! Go figure.
10. FSU is a decent team with alot of growing up to do. I think you will see Christian Ponder at QB before the year is out. I like Weatherford, but he isn't mobile enough and our O-Line isn't there yet.
So that's it. We lost to Clemson and the rivalry is now at FSU 5, Clemson 4. I still think it was hot and smelly at Death Valley with all those rednecks around.
Did I mention that it was hot and smelly! LOL ;D
GO NOLES!!! I STILL SUPPORT MY TEAM.

i figured you would like the plat by play action i was calling it as it happened....Rick Trickett needs to be your head coach right now...he would get fsu back in the hunt in a hurry...i tried to warn you about davis and spiller...(see earlier posts lol)clemson will be inconsistant this season as usual...they play great against the big boys but lose to duke at home the next week....kind of like gtech does.....i thought it was going to be another fsu lucky 4th quarter comeback but they hung on for a weak finishing victory against a team with major head coaching problems....sorry gtumblin but bbowden needs to step down out of respect to the program he built........before he tears it to the ground.....i bet it was loud there...wish i could have been there....that had to be a great college football atmosphere......

Swamp,
I know and appreciate what you are saying, but every team uses every advantage they can get. The "Thug" image can be part of the mystique. Why do you think they have played in the NASTY Orange Bowl for all there years? Opposing teams and their fans were intimidated by the whole experience. (If you haven't been there, let me know and you can go with me! It is a UNIQUE experience). Also remember that Colleges are often reflective of their communitiy. Miami is a rough place and therefore the recruits from that area are not going to be Nobel Peace Prize candidates. I'll bet there is a player from Miami-Dade or Broward Counites on the roster of every major Division 1 college in the land. No one labels these guys as "thugs" but they reap the benefits of their talent. Look at UF and FSU, when they proclaim a good recruiting year it is because they have lured away South Florida talent from the U. Miami happens to assemble a larger than average group of S.Florida players on their roster. These guys have grown up together in extremely adverse conditions and have a bond that most Universities will never know (for right or wrong). Miami players will litterally die for each other. I DO NOT CONDONE THEIR OFF FIELD CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. But there are a ton of players that catch a bad rap for no reason. Look at all the major universities and no one can claim their teams are without the criminal element, that it the nature of sports entertainment.
I love the U because I am a South Floridian and proud of my local team. Lets not forget all the class acts and pure talent that this university has produced. The NFL would not be quite as exciting without our players!
Anyway GO CANES!!!!!!!

Thanks for the offer Snipe....I just might take you up on it. Yes, I have been there and it was a trip! I agree with much of what you said...but I still say that no other college over the last 25+ years has displayed the "ghetto-punk-thug" image like UM.
I know that there are players on all the college teams that are like that too from time to time, but man, it just got old to watch as the majority of the players on the UM teams over the years carried that image and went off every time they made a tackle, catch, or first down. ::)
I don't mind confidence or even a little cockiness, but the gangsta swagger thing done over, and over, after every little thing they do (or did) just rubs me the wrong way. It's just the way I am. I can't even watch pro basketball anymore and the NFL is getting more and more like it.
Act like you've made a good play before, get up and just go back to your huddle. Don't be jetting off 10 yards away from the action so everyone will know you made the play. That's what gets to me watching the Canes over the years. And I don't like it when my Gators do it either.
LOL. I am an equal opportunity complainer!
