What do you all like to use? I went out and bought some Dupont Teflon Tire Spray
Last weekend (SAT) and used it on both my Titan & Xterra and couldn't be happier
with the results. I drive 40 miles per day so I have already driven 100+ miles and my
tires still look like they did the day I used it. This stuff is great imo, doesn't have that
greasy shine to it and doesn't sling up on the truck either afterrwards. It leaves a nice
clean matte black shine to the tire and looks great, seems to have brought out a lot
of the black in my tires...................

i have always just t sprayed mine with son-of-a-gun and wipe them down, but if you dont let it soak in it will fling up on your truck. haven't tried anything else. also you have to make sure whatever you are using doesn't contain alcohol in it because it will dry and crack you tires and interior..

BN, I am going to try the Dupont! I have 9" wide wheels and when I have it washed and let them put the Tire Dressing on,
it has the whole sides of my truck coated with it by the time I get home. Plus I still have the badyears and that design allows
it to trap the crap all over the tire and sling it as soon as you take off.

Those weird curved spong thingies really help...

Honestly, I hate tire shine because it seems to slather the side of the vehicle (even if you wait a while before driving). :-\

I spray the Meguires on my engine stuff also..........sometimes on my tires. Seems to be decent, haven't really noticed too much spray on the truck from it.

Some folks claim that it attracks dirt/grime under the hood.

jestep
08-29-2007, 01:56 PM
does it have a shiny look to it?

mikepro
08-29-2007, 01:59 PM
If you spray and leave it it will be shiney, If you spray wait a few hours then wipe it it will have a matte finish (this is what I do).

jestep
08-29-2007, 02:02 PM

I never had a real bad issue with dirt and grime attracting to the engine bay with the spray on there......I just really don't drive it for a few so it can set in. If it does get stuff on it, just wipe it off.......still looks good and comes off easy.

I just ran out and had my truck washed and bought the Tire Shine at o'Reilly and it was $5.49. On the way home the sky is turning
black and thundering so I pulled it in the garage before I could put it on. Boy I really got shafted, on the price and having my truck washed.

Which Tire Shine did you buy?

BigBertha

The Meguires, they didn't have the Dupont but I am going to try them both out.

JoshInTitan

I also use the Meguires.

Watch out for the stuff that eats tires. I detailed dads car once and tried out a new tire shine... he loved it so much he made sure I kept some around for when I cleaned his car. 62k on the clock now and many details with the tire shine... dry rotted the tires bad... Oh well... he's replaced one (with the spare of course)... maybe he'll replace the other 3 before they blow out!

I used some kind of spray last year on my tires on new concrete, it said on the can may cause staining on concrete. Yea Right! It did with the overspray. You can't see it on dry new concrete but when is is wet, it looks like light gray in 4 places on the driveway! It does not come off. Can't remember the
name but I still have it if needed. Be Careful when using it.

I use this Black Magic tire foam, pretty cheap and I'm pretty satisfied with the results.I've used the Meguiars Hot Shine also and I don't think there was a big difference between the 2.

Especially on trucks with big ol tires. now on a sports car, like a porsche, i think it looks great on the low pros. but what i cannot stand is when guys go to truck shows and shine not just the sidewall but the actual tread too. YUCK!!

I use the armor all gel in the orange bottle that comes with a sponge aplicator. It works great and keeps your tires lookin good no matter what.

does it fling up on the truck?

etalian2005

I don't think it will "fling up" if you use a sponge applicator vs. spraying.

Meguiars Hot Shine Gel - seems to last for a little more than a month.
I apply with an old washcloth. Have not noticed it flinging up on truck.

I use "More Shine Less Time--For Tires" made by "Stoner's" Great product. One can goes along ways. Doesn't collect dust like armor all or others.

I've been recommended the DuPont Teflon for the tires. It's not super shiny which is something that I like. It's just a nice matte finish that looks very clean. Speakin of, how to I get curb rub off my sidewall. Almost ran into some dumb kid at school who cause me to have to make my turn a little sharper than i wanted to and ran up against a red curb. scuff isn't too bad, but i want to get rid of it. what do you recommend? SOS pad?

jestep
09-21-2007, 10:42 AM
not sure about that one i know i clean my tires with greased lightening first before i put anything on them maybe you could try that with some type of scrubbing pad.

Nick you wont like the armor all that i suggested then.

Monkey Spit and the some stuff i bought at costco sits on the tires for 30 seconds then disintergrates, only thing they dnt clean the letters well but they are decent, and cheap.

quick fix, and even if it slings on the truck, it disentigrates
