i am pushing for tebow or percy harvin to win the heisman this year....and chris rainey will be a stud at running back this season and win freshmen of the year on offense.....the gator dominance has just begun....if we had a badmitten team they would even win the national championship...its not fiction...just pure science...... :)

I think his major downside is that he has never played a full or even majority of a game yet. It's easier to come in as a hired assassin and run your big body through the line, but another thing to manage a game. We'll see though!

Sniper is right. He'll have to be flawless throughout the season to have a chance. He'll still make some of the mistakes that comes with not having been a true starter for any length of time, so I honestly don't think it'll happen THIS year.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Tebow was made for the Spread offense and the Spread offense was made for Tebow! Don't forget, Tebow was a true freshman last year running a modified spread...and the players around him were doing the same thing. This will be a fun year to watch what Meyer will do with his true offense in use. They will get to practice it and use it as it was meant to. Each practice, each game, will only make them better. Only down side is that defensive coaches will have more tape to go over and try to build schemes to stop it.

I also agree with MGator that both have an outside chance at the Heisman but their Soph status will also hurt their chances. Grossman should have won the Heisman his Soph year but the voters gave it to the Senior (I think Carson Palmer out of USC that year) who's stats weren't anywhere near as impressive as the Soph Grossman.

The heisman has to much media hype in it!! You can have two players with great numbers, seasons, and talent............ the winner will be the one that ESPN says should win!!! To many people vote by what they hear and not what they see. Every year they talk about how many votes are turned in before the last game....... how can you vote for the heisman before you see them paly their last game?

You are right. You had a very good pick. I had no idea he would be that good. He doesn't deserve it though. Brennan should get the Heisman. He went undefeated. Had great stats all season long. i got the other one........ for the heisman......sorry all, i know all wont agree............................................. .............. Colt Brennan, Hawaii.
Hawaii senior Colt Brennan did what is never easy to do. He came into the season with high expectations and then he exceeded them. Brennan led the Warriors to a 12-0 season and a berth in the Sugar Bowl, their first Jan. 1 bowl bid, much less a BCS berth. Brennan, like Tebow, is a bit of a "system quarterback." Their statistics are so outlandish that they are viewed as freakish. It's easier to appreciate Brenan for his ability to succeed in the spotlight.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that Tebow will only be at UF for one more year guys. If you heard his interview before the Heisman presentation he listed his priorities in this order.

#1 His personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

#2 His relationships with his family.

#3 His academics.

#4 Football.

Unless he receives his degree before his eligibility is up I would not be surprised if he stayed to play 2 more years. From what I see and hear of this man, I think he loves college football and the opportunity it gives him to share his faith and be a role model.

I don't see him as being concerned about the money at all as far as the lure of the NFL. If he did leave for the pros it would be to help support his parents mission to the orphans of the Phillipines...I know, sounds like he's too good to be true. But I also see his legend growing if he stays for the full 4 years and his opportunity to be (LOL...get ready to throw your stones and rotten vegetables) one of, if not the greatest college football player ever.

I know many of you will disagree with that statement and think I am an idiot and that's OK...I feel weird typing it. But In one of the threads in this forum, BEFORE this season began, I said that Tebow WOULD win the Heisman this year and I got blasted by many of you. So I can wait and see who is right when it comes to speculating what TBO may or may not do.

UF has almost every starting position from this year's team returning for 08. Combine this with the experience our young defense gained this year and the fact that we will be gaining 2 stud running backs from USC that transferred this year (and weren't eligible to play) and it would be hard to argue that UF won't be preseason #1 next year.

TBO is a dedicated athlete and is working on improving his mechanics so he can throw the long ball more effectively and with a tighter spiral for GT. ;) With the improved mechanics, a much better backfield to open up the offensive attack and take some of the workload off of TBO and Harvin, and a defense to protect the leads they put up...you'll see UF as the preseason #1 team next year...and Tebow as a very legitimate threat to win another Heisman.

LOL...OK Hators...your turn to tear this post apart! ;D

Tebow was definitely the most deserving person and he won. The only reason I thought that he may not win it was overcome and that was him being a sophomore. I wasn't certain that the longtime purists of the game would bring themselves to vote for him regardless of how much he deserved it.

I am glad he did, just like a said a couple of weeks ago, he derserved it hands down!

Congrats to Tebow. He had some outstanding numbers, no doubt. That's what the Heisman is about, right?

But, how often do you see a QB imitate a RB? How about a RB imitate a QB? Yeah, big difference. Congrats again.

McFadden had a stellar year, as well. Congrats to him, too. He is also a great guy in person.

Chase Daniel got robbed! LOL (J/k Swamp!)

I would not be surprised if Tebow finishes his B.A. in 3 years; however, he may chose to start his masters and stay on the program. With so many people telling him his style of play won't translate to the NFL, he may want to get in every playing year possible in college. (I'm not saying he won't make it in the NFL, SOME people are!)

Who knows???

Okay, I guess this is where I come in.

First off, he is a man of God and I respect him for that above all else. If nothing else happens in his career, that is the most important thing for all of us to focus on.

Second, Tebow will finish out 4 years af Florida and will break all the records and probably come up with a few new ones, like the 20/20 record. Never heard of that one before this year.

Third, he will be in the running any year he is at Florida at QB. As long as the stats stay up there, he will be on the stage in December.

Fourth, Florida should be ranked very high next year, but I don't see a preseason #1. Probably a #2 will be out there. This hurts to say, but I think Ohio State will get the preseason #1 on 08, even if they lose to LSU.

Finally, if the Gates are as good as the Gator fans say they will be next year, then Tebows stats may go down. If he has RBs to carry the load, then he doesn't get the carries. Just my opinion.

Also, Somebody somewhere will come up with a gameplan to shut Tebow down in 08. All things run in cycles and it will happen eventually.

Just my thoughts and I hope they figure it out before FSU plays Florida next year. LOL.

nice write up....i agree with alot of it....we will have chris rainey and moody from usc transfer as well as other new runners next year and that means harvin can just run reverses and direct snaps and play wideout and tebow can scramble and throw more and run less....all= less #s ...harvin will be a factor in next years heisman if he stays healthy...where i disagree is shuting down tebow....there are schemes that shut down the spread option...see auburn and georgias defense(very simular in style) both shut down the spread option...but if it is shut down great players find ways to adapt and i think between meyer and tebow they will figure something out to not get shut down....just like meyer did with leak...he didnt want leak back there ..he could have started tebow but didnt have the heart to be mean to leak who was going on his 2nd coach in 4 years...so meyer adapted his spread option attack and the rest is national championship history......and i think ohio state will be #1 but i think oklahoma will be #2 ,usc #3 and georgia #4,,i think we will be 5 or 6 preseason...

I agreed that Meyer adapts well. Tebow is also a smart guy who picks up very quickly that things have "changed" in a game. That's why he is a good QB. I want to see in 08 if he is willing to give up the runs to make the team better.

I truly hope that he does because I think FSU can tackle anybody BUT Tebow. LOL :D
