New Posts

Hey guys!

How about a New Posts option. Something that lets you go directly to new posts instead of having to go to each different section and look for new posts. I think that might help a lot...well...at least just me :)

Either way, site still looks great!

There is going to be a new posts option with the upgrade that was supposed to have happened 3 days ago now. There will also be a place to click on so you can go to all threads you have posted in.

At the top of the page under the "Hello" message is a link that says "Show unread posts since last visit." That's the one you want. :)

OK, got it. There is a plus sign in the upper right hand corner of that section that expands the section. NOW I can see what you are seeing. MUCH better. Thank you for your help and patience. An experienced software developer will now slink back to his cave and bang his head on the wall.

Oh, I leave the window expanded and forgot that the option to collapse it was even there - sorry about that!

This sort of dovetails into my prior problem in this thread so I'm going to add to the thread rather than start a new one.

I don't have time to look in every section to see what is new. So I use the "Show unread posts since last visit" feature. But, it seems to be forgetting when I last hit the "Mark all messages as read" button".

If I hit the "Mark all messages as read" button" button at 4pm and then hit the "Show unread posts since last visit" at 5pm I still have like four pages of new posts. When I check some of them the last posting time is prior to 4pm. I know the two buttons are working at other times because I end up with no unread posts showing up. I just can't figure out what the rhyme or reason is for when it doesn't work.

Trouble ticket went in and they said they would research it. They had never seen a problem like that before.

Shailey, this is what I was talking about in my other thread. "Unsubscribe" thread. The show new replies is there a way to delete some of these threads from ever showing up? Thanks

You can click on the minimize icon in the corner of the threads to make them not show up on the forum page, but they will show up when you click on the new posts icon.

I could be wrong but I _think_ I figured out the problem.

1. There are too many posts to keep track of. IMHO, we could do without the post whoring as it clutters the site and makes it difficult to find the real information that is likely to draw first time readers to the site (not people that are moving over).
2. The timezone offset for my profile was -1. I think this was the root cause. I tracked the time when I hit the "Mark All Messages As Read" and sure enough I was getting messages listed that had been posted up to an hour prior to when I hit the button. I changed the timezone offset to 0 and the listing of new messages changed to reflect when I really hit the button.

I dont think the post whoring is going to stop. Every forum has it and it is funny some times.
