My truck is coming up on 2 years old and I thought that I had taken good care of my paint but I could not believe how much the clay pulled off. You could hear the change from the first pass "SHSHSHSH" then slowly into pure silence and the clay is stained brown and that was after a good wash!. A good application of T.W. ICE and it was ready to go cruisin
My wife got very good at this and is available nights and weekends for a price.

I have never tried this product either. I am reading more and more posts about it so I guess I'll have to give it a try.

I've been using clay bars for about 5 years now. With the coming of warm weather, I will do all of our vehicles with it for the yearly detailing. All I can say is that others have asked me to detail their cars because the clay bar is great!
I was the vehicle first with DAWN dish soap, this is the ONLY time I use Dawn. Then the clay bar and I mix Dawn with water in a spray bottle to create the lubricant spray. Then, the final wash with Dawn again. Time consuming, maybe but now your paint is squeeky clean for polishing or waxing.
I use one bar for the windows and windshield, one for the upper portion of the vehicle, and yet a third for the dirty lower sections.
VERY EASY and worth the results!

yeah it's easy but it does take some time. i've only done a rush job on the titan as i was short on time when i did it, but last year i did the wife's car followed by polish and wax. altogether it took me 6 hours! looked amazing afterwards tho.
nice job TG!

Dawn is great to clean the paint in prep for a complete detailing, but be aware it does STRIP all the wax off and leaves the paint 'exposed'. Net is - be sure you are going to be able to 100% complete the detailing & waxing (or park it in the garage) before using the truck or parking it outside. Also, be sure you are not in the sun and that the paint is cool to the touch before starting.
With the claybar you need to keep 3 things in mind:
lube, lube, LUBE !!!!!
Else, you will have a mess.

i just use a liquid paint cleaner. I tried the claybar once and in "my" opinion i like the liquid cleaner better

The only 'liquid cleaner' I'm aware of is the T.W. Liquid Claybar.
I have some and it does do a good job on vehicles that need something more than just normal waxing. I have not tried it on anything that's oxidized or had a lot of surface contamination. It did OK removing the junk from my truck's hood (dealer parked it under a tree for 2 months) & did a fair job on my wife's '03 G35 (which I meticiously maintain).
Again, it does strip off all the old wax, so you need to rewax after using it.

YES!!!! Thanks for looking out Mike.
I spend the day detailing, 8-10 hours. I do not use the Dawn any other time but for stripping down to the paint. Now that the weather is warming up, I need to get ready to detail my truck. The only part I hate is finding all of the scratches and stuff from the winter.

Ok lets bring this one up again. The light caught it just right and even after the clay bar this is what I see. Am I going to have to spring for the 7424 and just smoke the heck out of this paint!? I hate orange peel anyway.

The paint on the majority of new cars is just plain nasty nowadays. No amount of clay barring, washing, and waxing is going to fix that. Only thing we can do is wetsand the heck outta it, and hope the OEM applied enough clear :D

well most oems never put enough clear on to do a thourough cut and buff without burning the paint in a few spots. the best thing for oe paint is to break out the da and get some 3000grit paper for it then hit it lightly then buff with your fav foam pad and 3m perfect it compound followed by their glaze they make 2 types one for light colored cars and one for dark that fills any small scratches left behind. finish product looks great. nissan deffinately didnt use enough clear on teh titan this is evident from how fast bugs eat thru the paint. on my way back from alabama last year i had a few bugs on the truck when i left and by the time i got home and washed the truck (12hrs) there were already perminent marks on my truck.

I'd be real careful with that, the clear is darn thin on these trucks ! My guess is that by the time you got the orange peel smooth, you'd be down to the paint or dangeriously close. These new Nissans have at best 1 wet sanding in 'em & I'd wait to do that until it was older and in a lot more need of agressive treatment myself.
If you want to make it a bit less noticable I'd try hitting it with the 7424 and a orange cutting pad (with a mild abrasive), then a white polishing pad & polish followed by the application & removal of your fav. wax with finishing pads. This will get out all the micro scratches as well as make the peel less noticable.

Typical swirl marks from washing and drying without good microfibers. No matter what thou vehicles are going to get those marks.
The 7424 is a good machine, you should get a good Swirl&Haze remover and go at it. If you get the right pads your not going to hurt the paint so dont worry about that.
And yes, the clay bar is amazing! If you get a good one spend time to do the entire truck. Until you feel it smooth all over go over it again. Just make sure like stated above to have it well lubricated.
